Dr. Ahmed MD, PhD, MPH, EMMPHID, CMQ/OE, CPHQ, CPPS Dr. Ahmed Raia is a medical Doctor specializing in healthcare quality management, health economics, health policy and healthcare disaster management. He has 15+ years of experience in medicine practice, with 10+ years dedicated to the field of healthcare management. Ahmed provides consultancy in the field of healthcare quality management and health system reform including preparation for accreditation (JCI, CBAHI), training on quality and patient safety concepts, preparation for CPHQ and CPPS exams, health policy analysis and health system reforms. Dr. Ahmed started his career as a primary care physician then joined academic career as a lecturer in couple of the biggest institutes in the Middle East. Dr. Ahmed’s senior managerial positions include him being a quality director at Almouasah private hospitals in Egypt, head of quality unit at National Liver Institute (NLI) in Egypt, quality director at Madinah National Hospital – Saudi Arabia where he was instrumental in preparing them for CBAHI accreditation, lead quality consultant at Alhada Armed Forces hospitals in Saudi Arabia, composed of 3 hospitals and 2 specialized centers. Throughout this period, his responsibilities included conducting trainings in quality management, risk management and patient safety, as he is a certified trainer form American University in Cairo (AUC) for its total quality management diploma (DTQM), and is currently is a member of American Society of Quality (ASQ) – Saudi Council of Health Specialists. Dr. Ahmed’s international exposure includes doing his master’s in Hong Kong at HKU, which is a top world ranked university, concentrating on health economics, policy and management. During his tenure in Hong Kong he worked with hospital authority in their national accreditation program and helped them to get accreditation on Australian standards, as well as in several different projects for health system reform as public private partnership in Hong Kong, Taiwan and in Singapore. His European experience started in Spain in the healthcare disaster unit at the University of Oviedo, followed by extensive work on improving the Healthcare sector in the Middle East in Belgium at the center for research on epidemiology of disasters (CRED) in Brussels, a WHO partner. During his professional journey, he has conducted numerous CPHQ preparation training programs in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Hong Kong. Furthermore, he has conducted training sessions focusing on CPPS, disaster management in healthcare, concepts of health economics for healthcare leaders, JCI and CBAHI standards in many public and private hospitals, and acted as a key leader in helping hospitals in Saudi Arabia in getting CBAHI accreditation.
